- Bharatpur
Wildlife Sanctuary
Situated in eastern Rajasthan, about
176 kms away from Delhi, and 50 km west of Agra, is the Keoladeo
Ghana or Bharatpur National Park, one of the most spectacular bird
sanctuaries in India, nesting indigenous water.
- Corbett
National Park
The Corbett National Park is located in the
terai region of the state of Uttar Pradesh, straddling the
undulating Shivalik foothills of the Himalayas.
- Sariska
Wildlife Sanctuary
Sariska, in Rajasthan, the erstwhile
royal preserve of the rulers of Alwar, became a sanctuary in the
year 1958. The sanctuary came under the Project Tiger in 1979 and
became a national park in 1982.
- Gir
National Park & Sanctuary
The Gir National Park, was
established on 18th September, 1965, as a Forest Reserve, primarily
to conserve the Asiatic lion.
- Periyar
Wildlife Sanctuary
The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary at
Thekkady in Kerala, is one of the 16 Project Tiger Reserves in
India. About a century ago, a British engineer, Col. J. Pennycuick,
chalked out a plan to dam the Periyar River, subsequently, a dam was
constructed in 1895.
